The Philippines will now have a bigger pool of players to choose from and field in the 3×3 basketball competitions of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
This was after the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas included cagers who have seen action in the ongoing Chooks to Go 3×3 series in its selection process.
SBP 3×3 program director Ronnie Magsanoc said the federation will now discuss this possibility.
“That is also an option. ‘Yung mga nasa Chooks-to-Go, most of them have made it to the Top 100 already. They will always be considered even a part of the pool because of their ranking,” said Magsanoc in a statement.
Joshua Munzon and Alvin Pasaol are among the top players in the Chooks to Go series which reached a high rank.
The others are Leonard Santillan, Troy Rike, Karl Dehesa, Jaypee Belencion, Arvin Tolentino, Sean Manganti, Anton Asistio, Ron Lastimosa, Dylan Ababou, John Wilson, Larry Muyang, Roosevelt Adams, Leo De Vera, Paolo Hubalde, Jojo Cunanan, Chris De Chavez, Jan Jamon, and Rey Suerte.
It is the goal of organizers behind the Chooks 3×3 series to help the Philippines make it into the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after they organized the first-of-its-kind league in the country.
The 3×3 tournament of the SEA Games will be held at the FilOil Flying V Center.
