Cebuana Nicole Borromeo, Sinulog Festival Queen 2019, bested 22 other festival queens from all over the country, to take the Reyna ng Aliwan 2019 title.
Borromeo, the ninth Sinulog queen to win, was crowned by outgoing festival queen Chelsea Fernandez of Sangyaw Festival of Tacloban City, at the coronation on Friday night held in front of Aliw Theater, CCP Complex, Pasay City.
Singkaban Festival queen Aubrhie Carpio was named first runner-up while a triple tie for 2nd runner up honor was shared by Panagbenga Festival queen Roi Neve Comada, Agten Tufi Festival queen Alayyza Izzabelle Tolimao, and Tanglawan Festival queen Leandrea Gabrielle Batingan.
Borromeo, an 18-year-old senior high school graduate at Cebu Doctor’s University and native of Barangay Guadalupe, went home with almost all the special awards including Best in Festival Costume, Best in Evening Gown, Best in Swimsuit, and Miss White Rose during a preliminary competition on the eve of the pageant finals.
A former Miss Silka Cebu 2017, Borromeo wants to become an ambassador on proper solid waste management for The Wave Project advocate group of the Miss Mandaue Organization.
The teen beauty will also represent Cebu in Eat Bulaga’s Miss Millennial Philippines 2019 contest and the Central Visayas in Miss Teen Philippines 2019 on May 8.
Reyna ng Aliwan has produced national and international beauty queens like Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell, Miss Tourism International 2014 Angeli Dione Gomez, Miss Tourism International 2012 Rizzini Alexis Gomez, Miss Eco International 2018 Cynthia Thomalla, and Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa.
The Reyna ng Aliwan pageant is one of the highlights of the annual Aliwan Fiesta 2019, dubbed the Grand Festival of Champions, with the Street Dance and Float competitions.
