University of Perpetual Help System Dalta high school team topped athletics at the Vermosa in Cavite on Thursday to crown itself overall juniors’ general champion in the 94th NCAA season.
The Junior Altas gained 50 points for reigning supreme in track and field to hike their total to 365 points, denying the San Beda Cubs a six-peat feat in claiming their second general championship since winning it all 23 years ago.
The Las Pinas-based school also lorded it over indoor volleyball, beach volley and chess to help complete its magical season.
“We congratulate the whole team and the whole of University of Perpetual Help System Dalta community is proud of the accomplishment,” said NCAA and UPHSD president Anthony Tamayo yesterday.
The Junior Altas struck big in the 200m, 100m, 400m, 800m and long jump in dominating the track events.
San Beda was actually leading the overall race with 328.5 points as against UPHSD’s 315 before athletics, but the former managed just 35 points and wound up with a total of 363.5, or just 1.5 points behind the latter.
The Cubs, however, remained the most titled high school squad with 15 general championships.
