Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental”•Bread maker Gardenia Bakeries (Philippines) Inc. said it expects a 35- increase in sales in 2019 to P8.9 billion from P6.6 billion in 2018, following the commissioning of new plants.
Gardenia president and general manager Simplicio Umali said the newly-inaugurated plant in Misamis Oriental and another facility in Luzon would result in incremental sales this year.
“Based the corporate plan, we are to grow by 25 percent this year but with the addition of two more big plants, sales for the year is expected to be 35 percent higher,” Umali said in a news briefing during the inauguration of Gardenia’s newest facility at Phividec Industrial Estate in this town.
The company said that while Metro Manila remained its biggest market, the Mindanao market was expected to drive sales in the region.
Umali said that with more plants ready for commissioning, the company’s flour requirement was also expected to go up to 250 metric tons per day from the current 150 mtpd.
The new P1-billion Mindanao plant has a production capacity of 130,000 loaves and buns a day. The 2.5-hectare Gardenia plant is the most advanced bread manufacturing facility in Mindanao.
