University of Perpetual Help System Dalta produced another MVP as Joebert Almodiel claimed his second straight plum in the 94th NCAA volleyball tournament.
Almodiel was named MVP for the second straight season after powering the Altas to a nine-game elimination round sweep and a 23-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 15-12 Game 1 victory that pushed them on the cusp of claiming their second title in a row and 12th overall.
Almodiel, who also took the First Best Spiker plum, will thus become the second athlete from UPHSD to win the most coveted individual award this season after Altas Prince Eze ran away with the trophy in senior basketball late last year.
“We are proud of him, he’s really a hard worker,” said UPHSD men’s coach Sammy Acaylar of Almodiel.
Interestingly, Almodiel will be the focal point of UPHSD’s bid to become the third team to win the juniors, men’s and women’s crown this season next to former member Ateneo, which did it once, and San Sebastian College, which accomplished the feat six times.
Arellano University’s Nicole Ebuen emerged as the women’s MVP, while Letran’s Christian Wilsan dela Cruz was adjudged juniors’ MVP.
