President Rodrigo Duterte is very satisfied with the leadership of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, said Presidential Communications Operations Office Undersecretary Lorraine Marie Badoy.
The President is amazed at how PCSO General Manager Alexander Balutan is running the agency. It is unprecedented,” said Badoy.
From one of the known corrupt agencies in the country, PCSO has transformed into a more transparent agency that is charity- and service-oriented.
“Balutan may be facing intrigues, but such is expected if you are transforming an agency and want to clean up a system,” she said.
Last year, Balutan reported a gross sale of P51.9 billion from the P39.5 billion in revenues in 2016, a 33.93 percent boost in sales.
This year, Balutan set the agency’s target sales at P55 million, but the figure has already been surpassed.
As of January to November, the overall revenues of PCSO registered a whopping P56.9 billion, Product Development and Marketing Sector Assistant General Manager Arnel Casas said.
“We already surpassed the P55-billion initial target this year, but we adjusted it to P60 billion due to the roll out of STL. We also strengthened Lotto products nationwide. The P56 billion is really thanks to the hard work of our employees, Lotto agents, Small Town Lottery agents specially their caboes, cobradores, and organic employees,” Balutan.said.
Of the P56 billion gross sales, P29.92 billion came from Lotto and digit games, STL at P21.97 billion, Keno at P4.14 billion, and Instant Sweepstakes at P958.36 million.
