The Laguna Pistons and the Dasmariñas Ballers advanced to the semifinals of the National Basketball League after beating separate foes recently at the Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas gym.
The third-seed Pistons overcame the sixth-ranked Nueva Ecija Go Bespren, 87-75, while No. 5 Ballers edged No. 4 CamSur Express, 76-72, to make it to the semifinal round of the league for homegrown talents.
The Pistons will be facing the second-seed Parañaque Aces, as the Ballers will be battling the first-seed Bulacan Makabayan in the semifinals set on Wednesday at the Baliuag Star Arena in Baliuag, Bulacan. The Makabayan and the Aces hold a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals, needing just a win to move into the best-of-three finals set next month.
Jeff Disquitado had a triple-double after tallying 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in the win by the Pistons over the Go Bespren, while Mark Sornet delivered 14 points on 6 of 11 shooting from the field for the Ballers in their close win over the Express.
Krushev Ferrer scored 14 points for Nueva Ecija, as Alan Perea had 20 points for CamSur in a losing effort.
