The Philippine Sports Commission, through the Philippine Sports Institute, conducts Sports Consultative Meeting, Grassroots Coaching Program and Sports Science Series Seminar here at Daet, Camarines Norte from Oct. 25 to 27.
More than 100 Physical Education teachers, coaches and coordinators from different municipalities signed up for the three-day seminar.
“Ine-expect ko na matututunan ko pa ýung basic na coaching, kung paano talaga i-handle ang mga players. Nagco-coach ako before pero wala akong training kaya makakatulong ‘to,” said Herbert Torio, a participant who previously coached basketball.
The opening ceremony was graced by PSC Commissioner Arnold Agustin, PSC Regional Coordinator for Bicol Dorothy Neil Doroin and Mayor Adrian Davoco of Basud, Camarines Norte.
In his speech, Comm. Agustin emphasized that “PSC strongly believes that the bigger dreams for our athletes comes from the educated minds of every single coach in the Philippines.”
The Sports Consultative Meeting and Sports Science Series Seminar were held simultaneously yesterday at Camarines Norte State College and Camarines Norte Provincial Capitol, while the Grassroots Coaching program is set today until tomorrow in San Vicente for basketball, in Abano Campus for volleyball and sepak takraw, in Eco field for baseball and in Basud for boxing.
