Travelers to the eastern part of Luzon will soon see a stunning edifice on Marcos Highway in Marikina City as Sunland Development Corporation begins work on a 21-storey Red Hotel Suites.
Richard Lim, president and CEO of Sunland Development Corporation (SDC), dreams of expanding Red hotel every six months. He said this one in Marikina is the biggest, luxurious and most elaborate, just a stone’s throw away from malls and just a few kilometers from various tourist attractions in Rizal province.
It is scheduled to open in the 4th quarter of 2019. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on July 22.
“This is Red Hotel Suites third branch and by far the biggest. It is expected to become a game-changer on the eastern side of Metro Manila,” said Lim, who reveals that red is his lucky color, during an interview. The other branches are in Cubao, Quezon City; and Pasay City.
Lim added, “Everyone is welcome at Red Hotel Suites, especially those (living) in Antipolo or Tanay, Rizal. You don’t have to go to Makati or Quezon City to enjoy the amenities of a luxury hotel. Enjoy our complete facilities at Red Hotel Suites in Marcos Highway, Marikina City.”
Travelers will surely appreciate the 250 big rooms. The 21-storey Red Hotel Suites is also home to an infinity pool at the top, bar, gym, sauna, swimming pool, four-floor parking area, big function rooms and restaurants.
Red Hotel Suites promises to change the hotel landscape in the area. It will surely become a landmark in the heart of Marikina, with its intricate and very detailed design, indeed, luxury has never been this close.
Its roof deck will have a well-appointed swimming pool where guests can also enjoy the 360º view of the Marikina skyline and its neighboring towns. Amenities at par with 4 or 5-star hotel can be enjoyed in this property by SDC.
Parking will not be a problem as it has ample parking space for the guests’ security and safety. Commercial spaces are also available making it convenient for guests to shop and dine in one roof. The area is also flood-free.
Red Hotel Suites is a relaxed, hip place that endeavors to provide guests with a perfect stay at a more-than-reasonable price.
The rooms and suites are very simple and equally refined. They feature clean-lined, modern furniture with wood, marble and quality fabrics that lend a relaxed air. And the place feels more like home than a hotel.
Living up to the Red Hotel Suites tagline “Relax Enjoy Dream,” Sunland believes that luxury accommodation does not need to be expensive, but should be enjoyed by everyone. The group is scheduled to develop more projects on Roxas Blvd., North Edsa, Malate, Coron, Palawan; Davao, Cebu, and other cities.

Barbie rides the Smile Train
Smile Train, the world’s leading cleft charity, has formally welcomed Barbie Forteza into the Smile Train family as the newest Celebrity Ambassador.
“I am very happy to be a part of Smile Train’s family,” says Forteza. “I know that Ate Marian [Rivera] is an enthusiastic supporter of the charity and I couldn’t wait to jump on board and help in my own way.”
After the contract signing, Forteza visited cleft patients who have benefitted from Smile Train’s local programs and handed out teddy bears to bring smiles to their faces. She also spoke with the parents of the patients and with the local medical professionals who partner with Smile Train, eager to learn more about their journey.
“It is inspiring to see the brave smiles on these children’s faces after they’ve received their cleft surgery,” says Forteza. “Because of these children, I want to be able to spread the word about Smile Train and all the great work that they do for children with clefts. I want people to know that Smile Train provides more than just the training, funding, and resources for cleft surgery, but also supports essential comprehensive cleft care programs like speech therapy.”
Unknown to the local Smile Train team, Forteza offered a donation. As she recently celebrated her 21st birthday, she found the charity fit and aligned with her values.
“Smile Train is very proud and excited to have Barbie become a part of our family,” said Kimmy Coseteng-Flaviano, Smile Train’s Area Director for Southeast Asia. “We are grateful to GMA Artist Center for making this partnership a reality as we know that Barbie will be able to help us reach more children with clefts who are in need of our help.”
