Balanga City, Bataan—City officials have been spearheading the distribution of relief goods for almost a week now to families in barangays here affected by Typhoon “Josie.”
Raquel Garcia, wife of City Mayor Francis Garcia, and Vice Mayor Vianca Venzon-Gozon led the distribution of relief goods in villages here including Barangay Talisay on Friday.
They were joined by Councilors Benjie Merino, SK federated president Jim Espinosa, Joy Panganiban and Ric Magpantay.
The City Social Welfare Development Office and General Services Office, Balanga police, and barangay officials also joined in the distribution.
Most of the relief goods were from the city government but companies also donated goods. These were from the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Charoen Pokphand Foods Philippines, MVP Group of Companies, and Asiawide Land.
Aside from Talisay, relief goods were distributed in Barangays Bagumbayan, Cupang North, Munting Batangas, Ibayo, Tenejero, Cataning, Poblacion, Dona Francisca, and San Jose.
The City Agriculture Office also distributed 80 sacks of corn seeds and fertilizers as assistance to affected farmers from Barangays Cabog-Cabog, Tanato, Dangcol, Ibayo, and Cataning.
The city had been declared under state of calamity due to floods caused by the typhoon.
