The 47-member Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Jeffrey Solares, bagged first place with outstanding success in the strings category at the 12th Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival held in Vienna, Austria on Sunday. They played a 25-minute repertoire consisting of music by Mozart, Dvorak, Alcala, Florante, and Castillon. Other winners were groups from Israel (co-first place), Canada and Singapore. Over 30 ensembles from 14 different countries participated in the festival.
