Subic Bay Freeport—Redondo Peninsula Energy, in partnership with One Meralco Foundation, provided 100 solar lamps to the grade school pupils of Kinabuksan Integrated School on Friday.
The school is in an off-grid community within the Freeport Zone, in Barangay Cawag, Subic, Zambales.
“Light Up Our Future is our way of helping create better futures for these students and their families. The solar lamps will encourage them in doing their homework which leads to better academic performance,” said Jason Gavina, RP Energy’s Corporate Social Responsibility Officer.
The solar lamp distribution forms part of RP Energy’s CSR program on education. Previously, the company donated a school boat, generator set, and computers to the school.
The company works closely with the General Parent-Teacher-Community Association and the school faculty for these activities that benefit the school community.
RP Energy is the developer of a 2×300 MW coal-fired power plant in the Freeport Zone.
