Multi-titled men’s coach Oliver Almadro will be the new women’s volleyball mentor of the Ateneo Lady Eagles.

University president Fr. Jett Villarin, SJ made the announcement on behalf of the school yesterday.

Almadro will fill in the void left by Tai Bundit who resigned recently.

He will try to help bring the Lady Eagles back on top in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines standings in the coming season.

Almadro is fresh from a successful stint with the Blue Eagles, having brought the once-moribund program to three men’s championships and five consecutive Finals appearances.

He has an impressive 88-27 win-loss record in seven years as men’s coach.

“With his strong passion for the sport, the breadth of experience in forming and mentoring the young, and untiring commitment, Coach Oliver is our man to lead our Lady Eagles to greater heights,” said Villarin in his message to the school community.

Ateneo is coming off a third place finish in the just-concluded UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.

In his five seasons with the Lady Eagles, Bundit steered the Katipunan-based squad to back-to-back titles in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.

Almadro hopes to bring the success he achieved in the men’s division.
