PayMaya Philippines Inc. has teamed up with Liberty Commercial Center Inc., which operates the largest network of malls, supermarkets and department stores in Bicol, and Rose Pharmacy to accept cashless payment.
“We’re proud to be leading the charge toward a ‘Cashless Bicol’ with the introduction of PayMaya in our stores, the first mobile-based QR payment system to be available for consumers in the Bicol region,” LCC Supermarket vice president for operations Christian Tan said.
“We know that this will bring a better and more convenient experience to our customers and help encourage more digital transactions within the region,” Tan added.
PayMaya QR will be available initially in over 70 branches of LCC Department Store, LCC Supermarket, LCC Market Savers, LCC Market Plus, LCC Store Plus, and LCC Expressmart across the Bicol region.
“We congratulate our partners at LCC for being trailblazers in pushing for digital payments within their stores. With partners like LCC, we can all help achieve the government’s target of 20 percent of transactions going digital by the year 2020, especially as more cashless communities like Bicol go onboard with this mission all around the country,” PayMaya president and chief executive Orlando Vea said.
PayMaya also teamed up with Rose Pharmacy for its QR payment.
Initially, 130 branches of Rose Pharmacy around the country will have PayMaya QR as a payment option, with more stores to come in the coming months.
This will allow customers to transact in-store using only their mobile phones with the PayMaya app installed.
“Improving our in-store customer experience is a top priority for Rose Pharmacy, and this partnership with PLDT and PayMaya contributes to our commitment to bring our customers the benefits and advantages of new technologies,” Rose Pharmacy chief executive Charlie Bettencourt said.
“Now, our customers will have wider, faster and very secure payment option at their disposal. Choosing to pay by card or using the mobile generated QR code has never been easier at Rose Pharmacy,” he said.
