Davao City office taps ‘Agribeshies’

DAVAO CITY”•The City Agriculturist Office plans to involve the youth sector in the agriculture industry through the help of schools and universities offering agribusiness courses here.

Leo Brian Leuterio, CAO head, explained Tuesday that the youth in agricultural communities will work with the Agribiz Youth Club of Davao under various schools such as the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP).

“The name of the group is Agribeshies, they are composed of the youth sector in the agricultural communities. They will work together with the Agriculture clubs of the school to further enhance their knowledge in agriculture,” Leuterio said.

He said Agribeshies will identify an agriculture project that could be develop with the help of the CAO.

The project will get support such as funding and monitoring to ensure that it will prosper.

“The Agribiz students have the know-how of the science about agriculture, this will be a good training and exposure for the youth,” he said.

Leuterio said Agribeshies will help achieve a bright future for the agricultural sector.

On May 30, the CAO together with the USEP, Ateneo de Davao University, the University of the Philippines and some other institutions, will sign a partnership agreement for the start of the Agribeshies project.
