A TRAFFIC rerouting scheme will be enforced on major thoroughfares in Manila due to closure of Roxas Boulevard in connection with the Walk to Fight Poverty on Sunday, May 6, spearheaded by the Iglesia ni Cristo.
Frisco San Juan, deputy chairman of the Metro Manila Development Authority, said the closure would cover both directions of Roxas Boulevard from Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue in Pasay City to Padre Burgos Street in Manila beginning 12.01 a.m. Saturday.
“The main road will be closed. The service road will remain open for motorists going to establishments in the area,” said San Juan.
Motorists are advised to take the following alternative routes:
• From Radial Road 10 (R-10)/Anda Circle, vehicles should take Andres Soriano Jr. right at Gen. Luna Street, straight at Maria Orosa Street, turn right at T.M. Kalaw Street, left at M.H Del Pilar Street to destination and vice versa
• From A. Bonifacio Drive, left at Padre Burgos, right at Maria Orosa, right at T.M. Kalaw, left at M.H. Del Pilar to destination and vice versa.
• From A. Bonifacio, left at P. Burgos, right at Taft Avenue, to destination and vice versa.
• From P. Burgos, right at Finance Road, at left at Ayala Boulevard, right at San Marcelino, left at UN Avenue, right at President Quirino Ave., left at South Super Highway to destination.
• From P. Burgos, right at Finance Road, right at Taft Avenue, left at President Quirino Avenue, right at South Super Highway to destination.
San Juan said more than 500,000 individuals were expected to gather at the Cultural Center of Philippines and walk their way to the Quirino Grandstand during the event.
The charity walk will also utilize parts of Diosdado Macapagal Avenue, Gil Puyat Avenue, Taft Avenue and Road 10.
