GenTri hiring 600 youths for summer

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite—The city government led by Mayor Antonio “Ony” Ferrer will accommodate 600 qualified high school, senior high, college students, out-of-school youth and persons with disabilities in various city departments this summer.

The program is in response to the national government’s annual summer hiring program through the Department of Labor and Employment in helping poor students pursue their education by providing them with employment during summer.

The student interns will be assigned by GenTri Public Employment Service Office head Ariel Mugol to the different departments in city hall under the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) and the Government Internship Program (GIP).

The program will be done in two batches. The first batch of 300 youth will start reporting to city hall from April 10 to May 10, while the other half will work from May 10 to June 9.

All interns will earn P10,510, equal to Salary Grade 1 of the government employee code for the 20 days’ work.

“It will surely be a big help to them for the upcoming school year 2018-2019,” Ferrer said.

Sixty percent of the funding will be given by the city government, while the remaining 40 percent will be coming from the DoLE thru SPES as provided in Republic Act 10917.

Ferrer will provide two sets of uniforms for the 600 interns that will work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SPES is open to all qualified high school, senior high, college, technology and vocational students or dropouts who want to be employed in the summer job program of the government.
