The Energy Department asked the Energy Regulatory Commission to extend the installation target for biomass and run-of-river hydro projects by another two years.
ERC spokesman Floresinda Digal confirmed that the department sent a letter to ERC regarding the extension of the installation target for the two undersubscribed technologies.
“Two years extension. We can’t say anything about the rate because it would have to go through the process and NREB [National Renewable Energy Board] has not submitted its recommendation,” Digal said.
NREB is the implementing agency of Renewable Energy Act of 2008, which grants feed-in tariff incentives to renewable energy developers.
Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi earlier said the department was “positively looking” at an extension for the biomass and run-of-river hydro projects.
The installation target for the two renewable energy technologies expired in December 2017.
