QUEZON City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte is a top choice for mayor in 2019, according to an online poll.
In a statement from the Office of the Vice Mayor, a pre-election survey conducted by the online election watchdog Election Watch PH 2019, Belmonte garnered 3,545 votes or 59 percent of the total of 6,008 votes cast by netizens.
Conducted from March 27 to April 3, the online poll pitted Belmonte and Crisologo in a head-to-head match that has reached 104,679 netizens.
The online survey also garnered 787 comments and 577 “likes” and was shared 501 times.
Election Watch PH was created in 2014.
In the weeklong survey, netizens who voted for Belmonte cited Belmonte’s genuine public service, dedication, hard work, and her commitment to improve the delivery of basic services to the city’s three million residents.
Some netizens also cited the legacies of Belmonte’s father, former mayor and House Speaker, and now District 4 Rep. Feliciano Belmonte Jr.
In the survey, District 1 Rep. Vincent “Bingbong” Crisologo’s supporters idolized him for turning over a new leaf in life.
“What he did in District 1 for sure he will do the same for the entire Quezon City. We support Bingbong Crisologo!” a certain Erwin Rusty Pascasio commented.
The younger Belmonte will run for mayor against Crisologo in the 2019 local elections.
