FOLLOWING a disappointing campaign in the 2018 Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup, TNT KaTropa is looking to turn its fortunes around in the coming Commissioner’s Cup by tapping a promising reinforcement.
The Tropang Texters acquired former NBA player Jeremy Tyler as their import for the season’s second conference.
Tyler was a prep-to-pro prospect and was drafted by the Charlotte Bobcats (now Hornets) in the 2011 NBA Draft before being traded to the Golden State Warriors outright.
He was able to last until 2013 for the Warriors before taking his act overseas to play in Israel, Japan, China and Australia.
According to reports, Tyler is highly touted as he was supposedly on the radar of several PBA teams as well.
Tyler is set to arrive next week to immediately join the Tropang Texters in their preparation for the next tournament.
TNT KaTropa, which is normally a perennial contender, underperformed in the All-Filipino conference as it only managed an eighth-place finish with an early exit in the quarterfinals.
In fact, it almost missed the playoffs entirely.
Meanwhile, the hostilities in the finals of the Philippine Cup already started as favorite San Miguel Beer and challenger Magnolia are already figuring in Game 1 of their best-of-seven championship tilt as of this report.
