SAN Beda’s Maria Jezelia and Maria Nieza Viray routed Letran’s Miracle Mhae Mendoza and Marie Charlemagne Simborio, 21-15, 21-8, yesterday to complete a nine-game elimination round sweep and clinch a twice-to-beat edge in the 93rd NCAA women’s beach volleyball tournament at the Boardwalk in Subic Bay, Zambales.
The Virays thus finished with a perfect 9-0 (win-loss) record after the elims and will clash with St. Benilde’s Jan Arianne Daguil and Melanie Torres in the Final Four needing just a win to advance to the one-game finals.
Daguil and Torres made it through by beating San Sebastian’s Alyssa Eroa and Daurene Santos and Jose Rizal’s Shola Alvarez and Dolly Grace Versoza via tiebreak.
Tied with 5-4 records, Daguil and Torres garnered 1.227 quotient points as against the 0.990 by Eroa and Santos and 0.817 by Alvarez and Verzosa.
Emilio Aguinaldo’s Jaylene May Lumbo and Glyka Mariz Medina sealed the No. 2 seed and the other twice-to-beat edge with an 8-1 card and will play No. 3 Perpetual Help’s Marijo’s Medalla and Bianca Tripoli, who wound up with a 6-3 slate.

No. 2 Perpetual Help’s Joebert Almodiel and Rey Taneo tangle with Lyceum of the Phl U’s Jhonel Badua and Joeward Presnede with the forming owning the twice-to-beat edge.
