GMA Network won big at the 1st Dangal ng Bayan Awards by the National College of Science & Technology (NCST), taking home the NCST Dangal ng Bayan Media Excellence Award for Engineering on January 12 in Cavite.
The Network’s primetime newscast 24 Oras received the Dangal ng Bayan Media Excellence Award for Communication while news website GMA News Online was cited in the Information Technology and Innovation category.
Several programs of leading local news channel GMA News TV were also cited by NCST. Travel and adventure program Biyahe ni Drew won the Dangal ng Bayan Media Excellence Award for Tourism. Lifestyle show Pop Talk, on the other hand, received the Dangal ng Bayan Media Excellence for Hotel and Restaurant Management. Winning the Dangal ng Bayan Media Excellence Award for Architecture was Powerhouse, a magazine show that aired from 2011 to 1016.
Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera and young Kapuso actor Miguel Tanfelix, meanwhile, were both given the Dangal ng Bayan Special Recognition for Entertainment.
The 1st NCST Dangal ng Bayan Awards gives recognition to individuals and institutions that dedicate themselves to becoming agents of change and making a difference to the nation. The NCST is a well-established academic institution in Dasmariñas, Cavite and is one of the premiere colleges in CALABARZON catering to more than 7,000 students.
