LED by sons of former and current PBA officials, De La Salle-Zobel underscored its status as one of the toughest 10-under squads in the country by winning two titles over the weekend.
Drawing big games from Champ Arejola, son of GlobalPort governor and AirAsia executive Erick Arejola, Kieffer Alas, son of Alaska assistant coach Louie Alas, Kio Favis, son of former Coke mentor Binky Favis, and Daniel Sta. Maria, son of ex-La Salle player Adonis Sta Maria, La Salle first won the PAYA (Philippine Athletic Youth Association) crown last Saturday via a 54-31 win over Claret School at the Xavier gym.
Also shining for the team were Darryl Valdeavilla, Ito Roberto, and Coby Almuete.
Mentored by Kiane Baylon, Jhon Cabulong and Bryle Orog, DLSZ captured the Smart Breakdown Basketball Invitational title the following day after beating Xavier School, 76-62, at the Moro Lorenzo gym inside the Ateneo de Manila campus.
Other members of the team that posted an average winning margin of 20 points were CP Miranda, Javi Dimayuga, Gian Casimiro, Rafael marquez, Christian Trozado, Karl Ortigas, Mat Arabon, Bruce Paraiso, Marcus Tamayo, Ryan Dolor and Julio Datinguinoo.
