THE NHA Builders bounced back from a loss against the Malacañang-PSC by crushing the PDEA Drug Busters, 111-88, in the UNTV Cup Season 6 at the Pasig City Sports Center.
The trio of Alvin Vitug, Antonio Lustestica and Waldemar Tibay combined for a total of 72 points to cripple the Drug Busters, who were led Robert Sanz (24 points), Marlon Basco (20) and Julius Perante (17).
In the other game, the defending champion PNP Responders clinched its second consecutive win—a 98-91 stopping of the DOH Health Achievers.
The consistent contributors of PNP basketball team Anton Tolentino (21 points), Olan Omiping (19) and Alejandro Yanquiling (15) delivered as they beat the gritty UNTV Cup newcomer, led Leonardo Nidoy (28 pts).
Meanwhile, alongside the 120th founding anniversary celebration of the Department of Justice, the DOJ Justice Boosters celebrated with a win over the Department of Agriculture Food Masters, 86-82.
The Justice Boosters were led by Eric Mabazza, who made 27 points, while Paul Gerard Reguera and Justine Arvie Lopez both scored 11 points.
“Sobrang lakas ng mga teams ngayon sa Season 6, so pinanuod lang namin ang first game nila, then ini-adjust lang namin ang defense especially kay Jimwell Torion. Ang offense, sumunod na lang,” said DOJ Head Coach John Agbayani Jr.
On the other hand, the Food Masters vowed to bounce back in their next game.
“Kasi noong na-check nila si Jimwell, nakatayo ang ibang mga kasamahan namin. Siguro more practice pa. May mga plano pa kami sa team…gagawin namin sa practice,” DA Coach Zaldy Realubit said.
