Witness tells how Carl Arnaiz was killed by cops

A witness given the alias "Joe Daniel" appeared in the Senate today to reveal that he saw how University of the Philippines (UP) student Carl Angelo Arnaiz was killed by Caloocan policemen.

During the hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, the witness recalled that he saw two cops fire at Arnaiz.

He identified the cops as Police Officers 1 Jeffrey Perez and Ricky Arquilita.

"Joe Daniel" said Arnaiz was on his knees and handcuffed when he was slain.

The witness narrated he came from a party and saw the incident happening near a police mobile.

He said he hid behind an electric post.

Taxi driver Tomas Bagcal also testified in the hearing.

He claimed that he surrendered 19-year-old Arnaiz and his companion, 14-year-old companion Reynaldo de Guzman, to the police after the two allegedly robbed him last August 18.

He supposedly saw the cops shoot Arnaiz.

His testimony had conflict with the account of "Joe Daniel."

Bagcal claimed Arnaiz was shot at about 12 midnight while "Joe Daniel" testified Arnaiz was killed at about 4 am.
