SEASON 5 runner-up team Malacañang-PSC Kamao did not give in to the challenge the NHA Builders brought into the UNTV Cup hard court.
Kamao beat the Builders, 92-90, in an action-packed main game in Sunday’s triple header.
Kamao head coach Louie Gonzales said, chemistry is a key to winning.
“Ang sabi ko sa team ko before entering this game, ang chemistry, iyan ang pinakamalakas na weapon natin entering this season, and it showed,” said Gonzales.
Eric dela Cuesta carried the Malacañang-PSC hoopers byy scoring 29 points. Dela Cuesta and Christian Luanzon, who made 22 points, were hailed the Best Players of the Game.
“First game of the season, ang gusto lang namin noong huli is to come out with a fighting chance. Nagkaroon ng pagkakataon sa last minute, and we were able to pull it off. We just kept fighting,” Luanzon said.
On the other hand, Coach Bennet Palad vowed to recover from the loss.
“Nawala ang momentum namin, sayang din, namigay kami nang namigay ng bola noong last few minutes, the last few seconds. Pero next time babawi kami,” Palad said.
Prior to this, in the first game, the Department of Agriculture Food Masters slammed the PDEA Drug Busters in their debut game 104-100.
In the second game, the DOH Health Achievers stunned the COA Enablers, 122-95.
