BOXING powerhouses unleash their might this coming weekend as SKY Sports Pay Per View broadcasts live, commercial-free, and on high definition Pinoy Pride 42 Clash for Glory on Saturday, together with Supremacy: Canelo vs Golovkin on Sunday.
Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will go up against Gennady “GGG” Golovkin from Kazakhstan for the unified middleweight title at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sept. 17, 9 a.m.
Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KO) is the lineal middleweight world champion. He handily defeated Julio Chavez Jr. earlier this year and knocked out Britain’s Amir Khan last year. Online boxing blogs are tipping Alvarez to give Golovkin his first loss.
Meanwhile, Golovkin (33-0, 33 KO) is an undefeated fighter looking to defend his IBF/WBA/WBC middleweight titles for the 18th time. He had a decade-long streak of ending fights without going the full distance of he fight. This ended when he narrowly won over Daniel Jacobs earlier this year.
Milan “El Metodico” Melindo, fresh from his championship fight against Japan’s Akira Yaegashi for the IBF world light flyweight belt, will defend his title against IBO world light flyweight champion Hekkie “The Hexecutioner” Budler from South Afric on Sept. 16, 2017, 6 p.m., at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
Melindo (36-2-0, 13 KO) is on a winning streak after besting his past four opponents, including Yaegashi earlier this year.
On the other corner, Budler (31-2-0, 10 KO) won the IBO world light flyweight belt also earlier this year, against Filipino boxer Joey Canoy. He is currently 6th in the WBC and IBF light flyweight division.
SKY Sports PPV offers The Definitive Boxing weekend bundle live, commercial-free, and in HD for only P249. Subscribers can also get these two fights individually with Pinoy Pride 42 at P99 and Supremacy: Canelo vs Golovkin for P199.
Pinoy Pride 42 is also available on ABS-CBN on Sunday at 3 p.m., with a same day primetime telecast on S+A at 6:30 p.m.
