The Public Attorney's Office has filed double murder cases against Caloocan City policemen involved in the deaths of 19-year-old former University of the Philippines student Carl Angelo Arnaiz and his companion, 14-year-old Grade 5 pupil Reynaldo "Kulot" de Guzman.

The charges were filed by PAO Chief Persida Rueda Acosta during a preliminary investigation at the Department of Justice on Thursday.

Acosta brought with her some witnesses who submitted their sworn affidavits to the panel of prosecutors.

Aside from double murder, PAO also filed cases relating to planting of bogus evidence against the cops.

Arnaiz, who lived in Cainta, Rizal went missing last August 17 and his body was found by his parents in a morgue in Caloocan City.

Police said he had engaged the cops in a shootout after he allegedly robbed taxi driver Tomas Bagcal along C-3 Road.

Arnaiz's companion, De Guzman, was also found dead and his body was seen floating in a creek in Gapan, Nueva Ecija on September 5.

De Guzman's corpse bore about 30 stab wounds.
