Metro Manila and Southern Luzon were hit by a Magnitude 6.1 earthquake at 1:28 pm on Friday.
PHIVOLCS located the epicenter of the quake at 5 kilometers southwest of Lian, Batangas.

The depth was recorded at 173 kilometers.
It is tectonic in origin.
Parts of the so-called Manila Trench moved.
The information was relayed by PHIVOLCS to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
