DANGEROUS Drugs Board Chairperson Dionisio Santiago called out on Monday the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to investigate the discovery of a huge shabu laboratory in Virac, Catanduanes in 2016.
Santiago said the high-grade shabu and cocaine sold to the public last year could have originated from Catanduanes.
He said he also believes the killing of Larry Que, publisher of Catanduanes News Now, on Dec. 16, 2016 could be linked to the controversial mega shabu laboratory operations.
Santiago said Que may have been killed to silence him over his knowledge of the drug operations.
The DDB chief said he was informed that the drug operation in Barangay Palta Small, Virac, Catanduanes as a major supplier of illegal drugs in the country, but he failed to investigate since he was then removed from his post.
Undersecretary Joel Sy Egco of the Presidential Task Force on Media Security has also led the investigation into Que's killing.
The Philippine National Police in Bicol has filed cases against the National Bureau of Investigation official here and 20 others, including former government officials, in connection with the discovery of the shabu laboratory over their supposed involvement.
The shabu warehouse was leased to a certain Jason Uy, alias “Paulo Uy,” reportedly a Chinese national.
