The House of Representatives has mandated that only the original version of "Lupang Hinirang" must be sung in public places and government institutions.
This order is contained in House Bill 5224 approved by the chamber.

The measure states that only the original version of Julian Felipe must be used.
Filipinos are told observe utmost reverence to the national anthem.
When the song is played, people must stop walking, stand at attention and sing the anthem.
Lack of respect for the national anthem carries a penalty of one-year imprisonment.
Violators will also be fined in the amount of P 100,000 each.
