CNN Philippines is airing the second season of Hungry with Chef JP, a documentary series that combines three of the most-loved leisure activities of every Filipino —cooking, eating and the beach. Chef JP Anglo travels around the Philippines in search of the best surf spots while whipping up unique local dishes in between riding the waves.
Bacolod-bred JP Anglo has food deeply rooted into his family life, as they used to own a restaurant in his hometown—these culinary beginnings served to frame the chef’s deep passion for cooking which he eventually developed into successful ventures in Manila: Filipino restaurant Sarsa is highly regarded for its fresh take on local cuisine, while concept food counter Liberation Shawarma is placed in one of the hippest, most-visited food halls in the city.
Outside of the kitchen JP Anglo takes to the waves with equal enthusiasm, and in Hungry, both of JP Anglo’s worlds come together as he surfs in the most coveted spots in the country, all while cooking and enjoying his time with the locals. Here, he strikes a connection with these surf town natives as he discovers how they make a difference in the community through food and their unique practices. Hungry with Chef JP inspires weekend warriors, slow living learners and island life enthusiasts to approach food and leisure with the constant thirst to get absolutely stoked.
The first episode of Hungry Season 2 finds Chef JP in Real Quezon, where he explores the surf town, tackles the waves and cooks up a feast with the locals. From there, he roams the country and develops friendships with the people he meets, all through a love of food and surfing. This season zeroes in on local artisans and individuals with one-of-a-kind lifestyles, making this program’s second season one to watch out for.
Hungry with Chef JP airs 7:30 p. m. Saturdays on CNN Philippines on Free TV Channel 9 or livestream on cnnphilippines.com/video.
