Meralco has announced another electricity rate drop in June, an all-time rate reduction of P1.43 per kilowatt-hour on the heels of an earlier price decline of P0.29 per kWh in May. This amounts to a PhP286 decrease in the total bill of a residential household consuming 200kWh.
The June rate’s decline is mainly due to a refund by Meralco as well as the cheaper cost of producing power. This translates to more money allotted to budget for other household costs like emergency fund, gas allowance, and food allowance, among others.
