THE Department of Justice is headed to the UNTV Cup Playoffs after beating the BOC Transformers, 90-48, on Sunday, marking the first time that the Justice Boosters have advanced to the semifinals of the UNTV caging.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga players ko na talagang nagtitiyaga sa practice para makapasok kami sa semis. Sobrang saya ng team,” DOJ Justice Boosters’ John Agbayani Jr. said.
Meanwhile, the Judiciary Magis completed the Final Four cast as they eliminated the Senate Sentinels out of the UNTV off-season games.
Judicial Supervisor Jeovanni Villanueva and Supreme Court Attorney VI Romulo Paras were hailed as the Best Players of the Game.
Court Administrator Midas Marquez also made an outstanding performance, sinking five 3-point field goals.
“Ang game plan kasi namin, look for the open man lang, mabilis ang bola. Kung sino libre, tumira para bumuka ‘yung depensa nila at mabigyan ‘yung big man namin sa ilalim,” Judiciary Magis Head Coach Joey Yabut explained.
In the main game, Colonel Jonathan Abutin and Colonel William Gonzales led the AFP Cavaliers past the PNP Responders.
“Prepared sila, talagang praktisado, kaya maganda rin laro ng AFP,” said NCRPO Chief PDir. Oscar Albayalde.
For this, the soldiers secured the no. 1 seed entering the semis.
“I have to give credit to my players, ‘yung game plan na running game, nagawa namin. Pero siyempre, hands up din kami sa PNP, pinahirapan nila kami,” said AFP Cavaliers Head Coach CPL Sonny Manucat.
The PNP Responders are ranked no. 2, followed by the DOJ and the Judiciary based on the rules of the games.
The top two teams have a twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs, which begin on June 25.
