THE AFP Cavaliers now lead the team standings of the UNTV Cup Executive Face Off after defeating the Judiciary Magis, 82-68, in the main game of the triple-header on Sunday at the Pasig City Sports Center.
“The players were rattled even though we practiced. Maybe because of fatigue, too,” said Coach Joey Yabut of the Judiciary Magis, which have a 2-2 record.
“I know my players have a good stamina, so the game plan was to surprise them with our trapping defense in the last quarter. That is our strategy,” said AFP Cavaliers’ Head Coach Corporal Cornelio “Sonny” Manucat III.
Meanwhile, Senator Sonny Angara led the Senate Sentinels to an 82-67 win over the still winless BOC Transformers.
Director Lino Ong was hailed as the Best Player of the Game.
In the PNP-DOJ battle, the Responders toppled the Justice Boosters, 88-82, to claim the top spot of the team standings, alongside the AFP Cavaliers.
Another triple header is on Sunday in the UNTV Cup Off Season games Executive Face Off.
