‘Art 2 Art’ in June

After winning a fourth Golden Dove trophy at Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas recently, Art 2 Art affirms its mission of raising art awareness through thoughtful conversations among artists and culture workers. 

“We are committed to our aim of bringing art and culture discussion for all,” says host Lisa Macuja who expresses gratitude to KBP, Art 2 Art listeners and viewers and the artists who have supported the program in the past ten years.

Art 2 Art, which won the Golden Dove for Best Culture and Arts program for Radio, will have interesting episodes this month.

On June 11, author Criselda Yabes relates how her journalism background and career has led her to writing both non-fiction and fiction in her books. A recipient of the 2017 Gawad Francisco Balagtas for Essay and Fiction in English from the Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas, Yabes notes the experiences and influences that have shaped her as a writer.

On June 18, Joseph Phillips discusses how being a ballet dancer has led him on an unbelievable journey from the United States to Russia and now to the Philippines where he is a guest artist with Ballet Manila. Phillips is referred to as “Golden Boy of Ballet” in the US for having won the most number of gold medals in international ballet competitions.

On June 25, tenor Mark Christian Bautista shares his late start as a classical singer, having only begun in it seriously upon finishing his college course in information systems. Now, he is set to pursue a degree in voice after securing a scholarship with London’s famed Guildhall School of Music and Drama for which he is also raising supplemental funds.
