Makati rewards loyal city workers

The Makati City government will give loyalty awards to more than 4,000 city hall employees who have been in the service for more than 10 years in line with the city’s 347th anniversary.

Mayor Abigail Binay will lead the Loyalty Awardees Recognition Ceremony to be held this morning at the City Hall Quadrangle.

Binay initiated the loyalty award and cash incentive program for employees who have rendered continuous service with the city government for at least a decade “in recognition of their indispensable role in the delivery of quality public service.”

“This is our humble way of showing our gratitude and appreciation for our long-serving city government employees. Revenues may be the lifeblood of the city government in sustaining its various programs and social services, but it is the employees who serve as its backbone,” the mayor said.

“Dedicated and loyal civil servants in the city workforce ensure that our plans are successfully carried out and translate into outstanding services and benefits for Makatizens,” she added.

According to the city Human Resource Development Office, each awardee will receive a certificate of appreciation and a corresponding cash incentive depending on their number of years in service as of Dec. 31, 2016.

The amount of cash incentive will be given “by milestone” as follows: At least 40 years in service and above, P20,000; at least 35 years up to 39 years in service, P17,500; at least 30 years up to 34 years, P15,000; at least 25 years up to 29 years in service, P12,500; at least 20 years up to 24 years, P10,000; at least 15 years up to 19 years, P7,500; and at least 10 years up to 14 years, P5,000.

The city government has organized a series of events to celebrate the city’s foundation day, starting with the launching last Tuesday of the all-new “Makatizen Card” to residents and city hall employees.

This morning, a thanksgiving Mass will be held at 7 a.m. at the City Hall quadrangle. At 8:30 a.m., an awarding ceremony will be held to recognize over 4,000 City Hall employees who have rendered continuous, uninterrupted service for 10 years and above. It will be followed by the traditional “Almusalan” where free breakfast packs are given to City Hall employees.

At 6 p.m., a vin d’honneur hosted by the city government will be held at the Rigodon Ballroom of Peninsula Manila. The Ten Outstanding Corporate Citizens of Makati will also be feted during the event. It will be attended by members of the diplomatic and consular corps, representatives of the Makati business community, and national government officials, among other guests.

On June 2, the city will hold the Coronation Night of Miss Makati 2017 at the Rizal Ballroom of Makati Shangri-La Manila Hotel, starting at 7 p.m. Twelve candidates coming from different barangays of the city will vie for the prestigious role to serve as the city’s ambassador of goodwill to the local and international communities.
