Korean drama fans were in for the biggest summer treat ever as the first and true home of Asianovelas, ABS-CBN, premiered on Monday two of the biggest Koreanovelas of 2016.
Legend of the Blue Sea and Goblin with two of the hottest and most popular Asian superstars today, Lee Min Ho and Gong Yoo began airing at the beginning of the week.
“This is an extraordinary TV event not only for Koreanovela fans but for all our Kapamilya viewers because these are two of the biggest Korean productions that commanded huge viewership across the pan-Asian region,” said Leng Raymundo, head of ABS-CBN Integrated Acquisitions and International Sales and Distribution.
The biggest Korean fantasy-romance drama Legend of the Blue Sea marks the return of the King of Asianovelas, Lee Min Ho, on Philippine television after ABS-CBN aired The Heirs in 2014. The series, which gave Min Ho the Top Excellence Award as an actor in the 2016 SBS Drama Awards, also stars international superstar and one of Korea’s sought after leading ladies, Jun Ji-Hyun.
Goblin recently won the Grand Award at the 53rd Baeksang Art Awards, Korea’s most prestigious award giving body, with lead star Gong Yoo bagging the Best Actor award.
This award-winning fantasy love story follows the journey of a brave general named Kim Shin, who is cursed to live forever as a Goblin, an immortal protector of souls. After 900 years, he finally meets a woman that can end the curse— Erin, the Goblin’s bride. He, however, falls in love with the sweet and innocent young lady and risks both their lives in the name of love.
