Phoenix National Slalom returns to Cabanatuan City

AFTER almost a decade of absence in Cabanatuan City, RACE Motorsports Club brings the 2017 Phoenix National Slalom back in the city at the NFA Compound on Sunday.

Backed by Mayor Jay Vergara, Michael Mendoza and Joey Vergara, the third leg of the series is powered by Phoenix Premium 98 and Phoenix Accelerate fully synthetic oil. Cabanatuan City also hosts a leg of the 12-round series on Sept. 10.

Registration is set from 7 a.m. onwards.

There will be no practice runs for the races to finish early as the venue is not equipped with lights.

Official runs will start as early as 9 a.m.

Each participating driver will receive four liters (1 gallon) of Phoenix Accelerate fully synthetic oil and a Phoenix t-shirt.

The awarding of trophies to all winners will be held at the Pig Stop Bar & Grill, Melencio St., Cabanatuan City, owned by Daryl Flores and Mikko Briones.

Overall and class champions are allowed to accumulate points if they use the specified Federal Tyres for at least nine legs of the series and must possess the Automobile Association of the Philippines Clubman license. 

All drivers will be charged an additional one-time P300 per leg for the AAP Clubman License.

The National Slalom events are affiliated with the AAP and FIA and is the longest-running motorsport discipline in the country. 

Expected to participate are the Club Slalom series champions,  headed by Milo, Noel and Estefano Rivera of Tough Gear, the 2016 National Slalom Champions; Dr. Peewee Mendiola of Team Big Chill; Speedjav Racing Team; AF Racing Team; Team Comet Tarlac; and drivers from Baguio and Pangasinan.

The 2017 RACE Motorsports Club National Slalom Series is presented by Phoenix Premium 98 and Phoenix Accelerate Fully Synthetic Oil, and backed by major sponsors Federal Tyres and Outlast Battery. It is also supported by Starbright Body Kits, Auto Transporter, media partners Stoplight TV,  C! Magazine, Auto Car Magazine, Power Wheels Magazine, Ride and Drive Philippines and Driven2ride.ph.

There will be a free slalom clinic from 9 to 10 a.m.
