The Supreme Court has released the result of the 2016 Bar Examinations.
Out of the 6,344 examinees, 3,747 passed the exams.
2,597 examinees failed.
The passing rate is at 59.06 percent.
This is said to be the highest rate in the last three decades.
Karen Mae Calam of the University of San Carlos topped the bar exams with a grade of 89%.
Second placer is Alana Khio from Siliman University.
The third place went to Fiona Cristy Lao of University of San Carlos and Athalia Liong of Andres Bonifacio College.
4th place: Allana Babayen-On of the University of San Agustin
5th place: Justin Morilla of Ateneo de Davao
6th place: Mark Camarao of the Northwestern University
7th place: Anne Momongan of the University of San Carlos
8th place: Jefferson Gomez of the University of San Carlos
9th place: Nia Gozales of the University of Batangas and Marie Ybio of Siliman University
10th place: Andrew Liu of Siliman University
Noticeably, no law graduate in Metro Manila made it to the Top 10.
SC Associate Justice Presbitero Velasco came out of the SC building on Wednesday morning to greet the bar passers and their families.
“I congratulate and take my hat off to all the successful candidates. Mabuhay kayong lahat,” he said.
The oathtaking will be held on May 22, 2017 (Monday) at 2 pm at the SM Mall of Asia.
Velasco said, a bigger venue like the MOA Arena is needed due to the large number of bar passers.
