THE fiery Star Hotshots gun for their fourth straight victory and a share of the lead when they plunge back to action in the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup.
One of the three undefeated teams, the Hotshots (3-0) want to keep rolling when they take on ailing Mahindra (1-3) at 4:15 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum today.
Three hours later, winless teams GlobalPort (0-2) and Barangay Ginebra (0-1) clash to see who gets to post a win under their column.
Carrying its momentum from a successful Philippine Cup campaign, Star continued to roll as the team seemed to have found the right chemistry.
The Hotshots can tie league-leader Alaska (4-0) with another win.
Star coach Chito Victolero reminded his wards to stay grounded despite the rampaging start.
“We’re having a good start and I just reminded the players to stay focused and don’t look too much at the team standings,” said Victolero.
Last Friday, rising rookie Jio Jalalon lifted the Hotshots after hitting the game-winning buzzer beater to power Star to a 105-103 triumph over NLEX.
On the other hand, Mahindra suffered a 92-98 setback at the hands of the Aces also last week in its last game.
Both the Batang Pier and the Gin Kings have not had the start that they want.
GlobalPort lost its first two while Ginebra dropped a 91-94 decision to the Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters in its tournament debut last Saturday in Davao City.
One of them is bound to finally notch a win while the other’s agony will continue.
