The House of Representatives is set to hold a nominal voting on the bill reviving the death penalty for drug cases.

This comes, as the chamber enters into the third and final reading for House Bill 4727.

The measure was filed by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and House Deputy Speaker Fredenil Castro eight months ago.

The bill was approved on second reading last week.

Nominal voting means there will be a roll call this afternoon and lawmakers will be given a few minutes to explain their vote, if they so wishes.

The proceeding will begin at 5 pm.

On Monday, Alvarez opened the possibility that a new bill may be filed to cover plunder and rape.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier asked why other heinous crimes were dropped from the measure.

21 other crimes were listed in the original bill.
