Senator Franklin Drilon has been replaced as Senate President Pro Tempore.
He was replaced by Senator Ralph Recto.
During the Senate session on Monday afternoon, Senator Manny Pacquiao moved to declare Drilon’s position vacant.
Drilon seconded the motion.
Voting proceeded and Recto garnered 17 votes.
Then, Pacquiao once more moved to declare the chairmanships of three committees vacant.
These are the committees on agriculture, health and education.
Senator Chiz Escudero seconded the motion.
As a result, Senator JV Ejercito replaced Senator Risa Hontiveros in the chairmanship of the Senate Health Committee.
Senator Cynthia Villar replaced Senator Francis Pangilinan in the chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Agriculture.
Escudero replaced Senator Bam Aquino in the Senate Committee on Education.
Drilon, Pangilinan and Aquino are all members of the Liberal Party (LP).
Hontiveros is a member of Akbayan party-list, which is an ally of LP.
Recto is also an LP member.
