TWO-TIME champion Judiciary stunned Malacanang Kamao, 74-63, in the 2016 UNTV Cup at the University of Makati Gym.
In a game of changing fortunes, the Magis led early, 20-6, but the Kamao stole the lead in the third quarter, with only two minutes left, 47-46; before the Judiciary quickly regained the advantage, 53-52.
The Judiciary’s offense remained intense in the last quarter, until the last buzzer of the ball game as it secured second place in the team standings with a 7-1 record.
With 25 points, including five shots from the 3-point territory, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, Judiciary’s Chester Tolomia was hailed as the Best Player of the Game.
Malacañang fell to fourth place with a 5-2 slate.
In the second game, the BOC Transformers claimed their seventh win in a row, an 84-71 thumping of the MMDA Black Wolves.
The Wolves plunged to a 4-4 record.
In the first game, the PNP Responders squeaked past the BFP Firefighters in a close encounter, 86-84.
Ollan “The Sniper” Omiping was hailed as the Best Player of the Game after drilling 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, alongside Harold Sta. Cruz with 9 points and 11 boards.
PNP climbed to third spot, with a 6-2 slate, while the Firefighters fell to 4-4.
