“That’s showbiz. Natutunan ko na po ang piliin na lang ang dapat patulan. (I learned to choose those that I need to answer),” replied Hashtag member Ronnie Alonte, when we asked how he survives intrigues, especially on his alleged sex video that went viral recently.
“Minsan nakakainis na. minsan naman matatawa ka na lang (Sometimes it’s pestering, sometimes you will just laugh at it),” adds the good-looking dance-group member-TV host-actor.
Ronnie joins Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto in Vince, Kath and James, a popular social media “series” on love and courtship, which Star Cinema bought and made into a movie.
As the only entry in the MMFF from a mainstream movie outfit, the three young stars admitted to feeling the pressure of posting huge gross at the tills.
“But we are all excited too. We knew our story is very nice and unique plus we have very competent production people, a good director and co-actors, so sana po talaga magustuhan ito at panoorin ng marami, especially by the millennials,” proudly shared the three.
Ronnie by the way has another entry called Seklusyon, making him indeed the next important male star to watch on.

Julia simply welcomes the challenge as an opportunity. Having been paired with some leading men in the past but resulted to an unsuccessful pairing, the beautiful and talented Julia considered Joshua, “a very good partner.”
“He is so cool. Easy to work with and an intense actor. I find no reason why he can’t be my partner. Ang feeling ko naman, we gel well,” says Julia.
Although many believed that Vince, Kath and James could either make or break Julia as a teen princess in showbiz, she quips, “I simply am wishing for it to be appreciated by moviegoers.
Still a long shot, but I’m crossing my fingers. I’m just so grateful to Star Cinema for entrusting me this project.”

When we had the chance for a brief chat with Ate Guy (Nora Aunor) before the grand press con for Kabisera started last Tuesday, we talked to her in Bicol.
“Dae man po siguro. Sige ngani i-challenge ta sinda. Magayon man po ang project. Very proud ako, (Probably not. Sure, let’s challenge them. The project is so good and I’m very proud of it),” she answered our question.
In my mind I always think, how come her throng of supporters always expresses solid support only in papers but never at the tills?
She explained that her previous projects always competed with the industry’s major outfits and that their window for promotion and publicity is so “small and less” compared to the competitors.
With the now controversial “change” in the MMFF selection, “at least po medyo may pagkaka-pantay-pantay sa trato (there seems equal treatment).”
Nora Aunor has been hailed as the MMFF’s “queen” since it started in 1976. She practically won every major award either as actress or producer. Her most memorable films that are now called “classics” are mostly exhibited in the said festival.
So Noranians, Ate Guy expects all of you to watch Kabisera in theaters this Christmas.
It is a high-quality film which also boasts award-winning cast that includes Ricky Davao, Perla Bautista, Victor Neri, JC de Vera, and Jason Abalos.
