COLEGIO De San Lorenzo shoots for its first back-to-back wins when it collides with Diliman College, even as Olivarez College and Technological Institute of the Philippines part ways in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League at the Olivarez Sports Center in Parañaque City.
Coming off a convincing 84-70 win over the University of Batangas Brahmans last Saturday, the CDSL Griffins are slightly favored over the DC Blue Dragons in their 2 p.m. showdown.
Expected to lead CDSL are Jonjon Gabriel and Mark Carongoy, who combined for 42 points the last time as the Griffins improved to 2-3.
But the Griffins can’t take the Blue Dragons for granted owing to their vaunted pressure defense.
Multi-titled Centro Escolar University completed a six-game sweep of the first round elims with a 76-61drubbing of the Olivarez Sea Lions also last Saturday, snapping the latter’s three-game winning run.
Getting back into the winning track will be Olivarez’s top agenda as they take on the TIP Engineers at 12 noon.
Since Olivarez and TIP are carrying similar 3-2 records, UCBL fans can expect another thrilling finish as both teams target solo second in the seven-team tournament organized by UCAL and presented by Lamoiyan Corp. and Euro-Med.
Out to provide firepower and stability for the team are Vin Belaso, Harold Sala and Albert Rabe.
