PAGASA sees a new storm heading towards the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Weather Forecaster Benison Estareja says, the new weather disturbance may enter PAR on Saturday.
He warns, it may intensify into a typhoon.
The storm will be called ‘Igme’ when it enters PAR.
It will be the 9th storm to arrive in the country this year.
As of this time, the storm is located 2,900 kilometers east of Luzon, carrying maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of 80 kph.
Meanwhile, the effects of typhoon ‘Helen’ (with international name Megi), which has left PAR, continues to enhance the southwest monsoon.
Estareja says, this is the reason why moderate to heavy rains are still expectd to pour over the western section of Luzon.
This area includes Metro Manila, CALABARZON and some parts of Mindanao.
Ilocos region, MIMAROPA, Bicol region and the rest of Mindanao may experience light to moderate rains.
