The Department of Justice (DOJ) launches its own probe of the alleged involvement of police generals in illegal drug trade.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre says, they are gathering evidence for this purpose.
His statement comes, after the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) found probable cause to file administrative charges against former PNP National Capital Region (NCR) Director Joel Pagdilao and former Quezon City police chief Edgardo Tinio.
Pagdilao and Tinio are among the five generals accused by President Rodrigo Duterte of being drug protectors.
Napolcom’s findings stated, the two generals committed serious neglect of duty, serious irregularity in the performance of duty and conduct unbecoming of police officers.
As to their participation in illegal drug activities, Napolcom’s Inspection, Monitoring and Investigation Service Division says, it has yet to find proof that will confirm the President’s charge.
