Loyal fans of the inimitable tandem of Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap are in for a fabulous treat as the two stars team-up for the big screen for the very first time in Star Cinema’s upcoming romantic-comedy, The Achy Breaky Hearts.
Jodi and Richard captivated millions of Filipinos in the groundbreaking feel good morning series Be Careful With My Heart as Maya and Ser Chief – television’s first couple who reigned supreme for a very successful two and a half years.
Jodi is regarded both by fans and critics as a talented and accomplished actress. With a career that spans almost two decades, Jodi has breathed life into some of the most complex and unforgettable characters both in film and on TV. Jodi has seamlessly transitioned as a serious actress from being a teen star in the late 90s. Prior to her role as Maya in Be Careful With My Heart, Jodi has displayed her impressive prowess as a dramatic actress in some of ABS-CBN’s highest rating primetime series such as Tanging Yaman, Noah, and 100 Days To Heaven.
Jodi also delivered great performances in a number of films such as You Are The One, Cinco, and Maria Leonora Teresa among many others.
Be Careful With My Heart catapulted her to superstar status while her powerful portrayal of the iconic character of Amor Powers in the remake of Pangako Sa ‘Yo established her as the most well loved leading lady on television.
Richard on the other hand, enthralled countless fans with his unforgettable portrayal of the character of Papa Chen on the primetime series My Binondo Girl and he had the entire nation hooked with his performance as Ser Chief in Be Careful With My Heart. Richard also conquered the big-screen with memorable appearances in movies like 2014’s Ekstra, 2014’s blockbuster hit Praybeyt Benjamin, 2015’s You’re Still The One, and most recently in the hit movie Just The 3 Of Us.
The television tandem of Jodi and Richard as Maya and Ser Chief spawned multi-platinum albums, sold-out concerts, and worldwide tours. It should be noted that The Achy Breaky Hearts is the very first film project of Jodi and Richard and this is also the first time fans will see the two together after Be Careful With My Heart.
To spice things up, Ian Veneracion will join Jodi and Richard in The Achy Breaky Hearts, which is directed by Antoinette Jadaone.
With a script Direk Antoinette co-wrote with Yoshke Dimen, The Achy Breaky Hearts is a modern love story centered on Chinggay (Sta. Maria) whose love life is suffering from a seven-year drought. The plot thickens as Chinggay is unexpectedly faced with the dilemma of choosing between two men, Ryan (Veneracion) and Frank (Yap), who suddenly take an interest in her.
Together, Ian, Richard, and Jodi and Direk Antoinette will weave another unforgettable romantic- comedy laced with just the right serving of witty and sharp hugot dialogues and identifiable characters that audiences will surely relate with in The Achy Breaky Hearts.
In the movie, Chinggay finds herself torn between two kinds of love. Who will she choose? Ryan or Frank? Or will she realize that the love she needs won’t come from either? Find out and be part of the roller coaster journey of Chinggay, Ryan, and Frank.
